In 1955, a PhD in Chemistry from MIT, recognizing
the growing importance of water treatment and realizing the lack of
progress in the field, founded McLean Engineering to conduct and
promote research in the area.
Considerable efforts lead to patents on two highly
sophisticated systems. One designed to remove iron with no chemicals
added, and the other to eliminate larger amounts of hydrogen sulfide
from well water. Both systems are recognized as state of the art in
water treatment today.
